What is Bike for Bibles?
Bike for Biblesis a Canadian Bible Society fundraising activity. It originated in 1984 in Australia with three cyclists and now takes place in many countries, including Canada. Money to provide Bibles for those without the Word of God is raised through sponsoring cyclists. Through Bike for Bibles, people of all ages, walks of life, and denominations can achieve fitness, fun and fellowship with a Christian purpose.
Each year, funds are raised for Bible distribution and translation projects. Each year, countless numbers of Bible are placed into waiting hands. Each year, God’s Words speaks to hearts and changes lives forever.
Who Can Help?
Cyclists who are eager to enjoy a week of exhilarating exercise! Roadies who feed, encourage and care for the riders. Medical Personnel who care for any health needs encountered along the way. Sponsors who give generously! Prayer Partners who pray for safety on the roads and highways.

Dear Friends,
The new combat French Bibles have arrived and have been well received. Never in the last seven years of my military career have I ever seen soldiers request Bibles to read like they are doing now in Afghanistan. Not only have they requested them, but they have told us that they are reading them daily.
I remember the first time the soldiers started asking for Bibles. They were displayed at the Fraise Chapel in Kandahar Airfield. As soon as they saw them, they were all gone from the shelf. In one of my Military Police units, almost every person asked for the Bible. When I took the whole box to them, the Bibles were gone in a second.
Other personnel from different units have come to our office to ask us specifically for the Bibles because they saw their friends reading them. I remem-ber one soldier in particular who came and said to me, “Padre, can I have the Bible – the one that I saw my friend reading, which looks like our uniform?” As you can see there is a connection with the fact that the Bibles look like our uniform.
But what I have found most interesting is that they not only ask for the Bibles, they also ask me if they can take some for their friends. That, to me, is an indication of how our soldiers are becoming inte-rested in spiritual matters more than we could have ever imagined before.
Thanks to the Canadian Bible Society for sending them to us, but most of all we thank you for contributing to the spiritual well-being of our soldiers at a time when they need it the most.

This past summer I cycled from Vancouver to Calgary with the Canadian Bible Society to raise money to send scriptures to children in India. I embraced the physical challenge of biking across the Rockies in nine days and appreciated every moment, witnessing Western Canada’s beauty. It was an unforgettable, emotional, and soulful learning experience, which I attribute to the amazing group of people that participated. I got to know sixty fellow riders of all ages, from all walks of life, and of varying personalities. I learned something new with each story told, and every person has given me memory to take away. The commonality for the joy of cycling, nature, and faith brought a group from across Canada together to help those in India.
